Podhale Without the Crowds — Where to Relax Close to the Tatras
Discover a quieter side of Podhale and Ciche — a base for mountain trips, thermal baths and relaxation with views of the Tatras.

Podhale brings to mind mountain views, walks through Tatra valleys and evenings spent relaxing in natural surroundings. In popular resorts, however, it can also mean traffic jams, busy streets and queues for the best-known attractions.
Can you see the Tatras, visit thermal baths and set out on mountain trails while still relaxing away from the tourist bustle? Western Podhale offers a good solution, particularly Ciche — a village in a quieter part of the region.

Podhale without the crowds — why choose a quieter area?
Choosing accommodation outside the largest resorts does not mean giving up Podhale’s main attractions. On the contrary, it lets you combine active sightseeing with a peaceful start and finish to the day.
Instead of staying in central Zakopane, Białka Tatrzańska or Bukowina Tatrzańska, choose a smaller village as your base. After a day on a trail, bicycle or at the thermal baths, you return somewhere it is easier to slow down, look at the mountains and relax together.
This arrangement works particularly well for family trips, holidays with friends and longer stays. You do not have to choose between proximity to attractions and private space for relaxation.
Ciche — a quieter base in western Podhale
Ciche is a broad Podhale village situated away from the region’s heaviest tourist traffic. Its greatest advantages are the surroundings: mountain landscapes, open space and views of the Tatras.
It is a good choice for travellers who want to explore Podhale at their own pace. In the morning, you can set out on a trip; in the afternoon, return to the cottage and rest without spending the whole day in a busy resort.
This is where you will find Siwy Dzwonek — cottages with mountain views. The two semi-detached cottages were created for guests looking for private space, closeness to nature and a convenient base for discovering western Podhale.
What can you see near Ciche?
Western Podhale offers many possibilities for active visitors and those who prefer a slower holiday. Nearby destinations are suitable for mountain trips, family walks, bicycle rides and recovery in thermal water.
Chochołowska Valley

Chochołowska Valley is one of the most recognisable valleys in the Polish Tatras. Its broad route makes it a popular choice for families and visitors looking for a longer walk through mountain scenery.
The valley is busiest in spring, when the crocuses appear, but it is worth visiting at other times of year as well. Outside the most popular dates, it is easier to focus on the surroundings and enjoy an unhurried walk.
Kościeliska Valley
Another popular option is Kościeliska Valley. The route leads between limestone cliffs and forests, while additional stops or alternative onward routes can be included along the way.
It is a place worth returning to in different seasons. The valley’s character changes with the weather and time of year, making each visit slightly different.
Chochołowskie Thermal Baths
If you prefer recovery to a full-day hike, visit Chochołowskie Thermal Baths. They work equally well as the focus of a restful day or as the final activity after an active mountain stay.
The baths are also useful when the weather is unsuitable for a longer excursion. Check current opening hours and consider buying tickets in advance, especially during high season and at weekends.
The Route Around the Tatras
You can also discover western Podhale by bicycle. The Route Around the Tatras passes through varied landscapes and lets you plan a ride suited to your fitness and the time available.
There is no need to complete the entire route. Choose one section and combine the ride with relaxed stops along the way. Before leaving, check the chosen section, the weather forecast and current conditions.

What could a peaceful day at Siwy Dzwonek look like?
The morning begins without rushing — with breakfast and a look at the mountains. Later, set out for one of the Tatra valleys, go cycling or visit the thermal baths.
After returning, there is no need to plan another attraction immediately. Each cottage has its own hot tub, so the evening can be spent in warm water after an active day. Guests can also use the shared fire pit, while children have access to the shared playground.
This balance between sightseeing and unhurried relaxation is one of the greatest benefits of staying outside a large resort.
A cottage with a sauna or a cottage with a pool table?
Siwy Dzwonek offers two cottages. Each has three bedrooms, normally accommodates six guests and includes a private hot tub. Their relaxation areas have different characters.
Siwy Dzwonek 1 — cottage with a sauna and hot tub is a good choice for guests who want to warm up in the sauna and recover after a day on the trail.
Siwy Dzwonek 2 — cottage with a pool table and hot tub works well for family trips and stays with friends when shared indoor entertainment is also important.
This lets you match the stay to the way you like to relax — choose an evening sauna or a game at the pool table.
Peaceful Podhale, not only outside the main season
It is easiest to avoid heavier traffic outside school holidays, winter breaks and long weekends. It is not always possible to travel at a less popular time, however, which makes the location of your accommodation even more important.
Even during high season, you can stay outside the centres of the largest towns and visit popular places at quieter times. Set out for trails early, book tickets in advance and leave room in the schedule for rest without adding more attractions.
In autumn, western Podhale attracts visitors with colour and quieter routes. In winter, it can be a base for enjoying the region, while spring reveals the mountain landscape returning to life. There is no need to wait for summer to arrange a stay with views of the Tatras.
